Lets Talk About Hematite

Working with Hematite as the colder seasons approached was a fascinating experience. This iron oxide stone promotes circulation and is energetically stabilizing, anchoring and grounding us. During the design process I wanted to promote these effects by placing them in earrings, close to major blood flow areas, to promote mental sharpness and help bring out the best versions of ourselves during this transition period. Hematite comes from the Greek word Haima, meaning Blood, and its healing properties are thought to emanate from the stones high iron content (iron is the core element of hemoglobin, our blood). Hematite is associated with the planet Mars so it’s no surprise that this stone was often worn by ancient warriors for protection. It is a wonderful stone for everyone but especially for those with a strong Mars placement in their birth chart.
